Efectos visuales de ubuntu cuelgan al sistema

Hola que tal, cuando activo los efectos visuales de ubuntu 10.04 lts, el sistema se tilda a los 3 minutos sin razon alguna :S . Que puede ser?

Mi pc es:

Intel Celeron 1.8 Ghz
Memo ram 1 GB
Memo video on-board 64 mb

Les aclaro que una vez probe el ubuntu 8.04 y los efectos visuales los hacia sin problemas.

Qué raro, a mi me andan sin problemas, y eso que tengo un Atom N270 y 1 GB de RAM :D

que gráfica tienes, haz un lspci | grep VGA en el terminal y pega aquí el resultado

prueba a generar un Xorg.conf automaticamente
con las X desactivadas
Xorg -configure

de todas formas con 64MB y encima intregrada en la placa.....

si... tocas control+alt+f1 para abrir la terminal en otro tty, una vez ahi te logueas, entras en modo root haciendo sudo -i

despues haces escribis:

/etc/init.d/gdm stop
Xorg -configure

ahi se te genera el nuevo xorg, para volver a iniciar el modo grafico despues escribis

/etc/init.d/gdm start

Hola, que tal, ya probe eso que me dijiste pero se volvio a colgar mal de vuelta funciona por 2 minutos y se cuelga misteriosamente.

entonces puede ser algun modulo que entre con conflicto con otro, revisa con dmesg a ver si ves algo raro por ahi.
