Buenas, siempre he sido de windows pero hoy me apetecia darle una oportunidad a Ubuntu. Me descargué ubuntu 13.04 y lo booteé, e instalé junto a windows. Al acabar, me esperaba un menú de selección de SO (grub o algo así), pero me lanzaba directamente a windows. Reinstalé y nada. No se que he tocado, pero ahora me sale al encender: error: file '/boot/grub/i386-pc/normal.mod' not found, y me sale una consola de comandos. Como no se nada de linux, pues ni idea de arreglarlo. Lo que si se es googlear, y he visto que una solución es con el live CD de Linux instalar un programa (O lo que sea) llamada boot repair, pero no me ha arreglado nada.
¿Alguna idea?

primero, si no sabes de linux mejor probar un live USB para asegurarte que te guste el SO.
Si tienes windows 8 te costara más instalar linux.
Si el linux falla y no tienes datos siempre puedes reinstalarlo.

Ya le estuve probando en live cd, y siempre quise aprender a manejar la consola de ubuntu.
Uso windows 7, en ningun momento mencioné windows 8.
Ya he probado a reinstalar, pero el problema no se soluciona.

No se mucho del instalador de Ubuntu, pero, reinstala y cuando llegues a la parte del particionado reescribiendo la instalación anterior deberia solucionar el problema. Ubuntu por defecto debe instalar Grub y sobreescribir el MBR según dice aquí. EDIT: Puede ser problema del instalador... Solved this on a machine this afternoon. It seems that one cause of this problem is the installer thinking that you have EFI secure boot, when you don't and therefore loading the incorrect GRUB files. What you need to do is install GRUB 2. To do this you need to boot to the live instance, mount your root partition and install. From a live instance, find the partition on which your root partition is loaded. GParted will tell you this, or you could use sudo fdisk -l Once you have your partition you need to mount it. Assuming the root partition is on /dev/sda5, that'd be: sudo mount /dev/sda5 /mnt Then install GRUB 2 grub-install /dev/sda --root-directory=/mnt [use copy and paste for this one as there are some spaces that you need to get right.] Assuming this is your problem, then you should just be able to reboot and everything will work fine. He seguido los comandos que me has dejado en la cita y ahora si que sale el grub. Mi problema es que al parecer la instalación de ubuntu ha ocupado todo mi segundo disco duro (1 TB) cuando simplemente quiero usar una cuarta o una quinta parte (200 a 250 GB). ¿Cómo puedo redimensionar esto después de haber instalado el SO?  Saludos. |

Pues o entras con un livecd y lo haces usando parted(o similar) o desde el mismo Windows con la utilidad de discos(o similar).

en todas las herramientas de windows a parte de no reconocermelo bien, no me deja expandirlas o reducirlas. Miraré a ver como se hace lo del parted en linux.

Srry lagazo mental XD Si ya está instalado Ubuntu, no te dejará redimencsionar la partición, solo eliminarlas. (desde Windows me refiero)

Yo tengo una duda sobre la instalacion de ubuntu desde el pendrive usb. ¿que hacer si al intentar arrancar desde la usb no me sale esa opcion? solo me aparece CDROM,Disco duro, floppy y otra. Muchas gracias de antemano y se les agradece.

Bootear desde el HDD y volver a meter Ubuntu en el USB.
