fedora 15 no arranca

Saludos.
Tengo una laptop IBM con placa/chip intel.
1.25 GB ram.
Al reiniciar aparece un cursor titilando. Hago f2 para iniciar sesion, la linea de registro (log) termina en "loaded display manager." Y alli queda, titilando la pantalla en intervalos de 5 segundos. Este intervalo afecta al momento de ingresar mediante F2, startx. Casi inusable asi, las pantallas oscilando entre la GUI asi iniciada, y el log de inicio. En fin, no puedo ya iniciar la GUI.
Qué puedo hacer?
