el chipset....... estoy casi seguro que es rt2500
No entiendo la otra pregunta.... la tarjeta wifi (la conceptronic) se instaló sola, es decir cuando terminé de instalar  Ubuntu, tenia internet, yo no tuve mas que instalar Ubuntu. Sobre el kernel.... pos ni idea será la ultima actualización que haya del kernel para ubuntu, pues instale la ultima versión.
Y la pregunta era que,  si Ubuntu ya instala la tarjeta USB, ya no me tengo que preocupar por buscar driver, es decir el aircrack funcionaria ya no???

Pd: estoy teniendo problem con el pc (estoy escribiendo desde otro) probaré esos comandos cuando pueda

aquí hay una antena algo bestia que queria saber si funcionaria para el aircrack seguro que alguien la ha visto
Despues tambien vi po hay una bosslan 500 esta vale tambien no??? el problea es que la bosslan 500 va a54mbps, y me interesaría una capaz de tener mas velocidad....

PD: Por cierto sigo sin enterarme de como se instalan driver nuevos en linux

Miren señores, para no complicarse más, y no darles mas la lata. Por que no me dicen ustedes cual es la mejor antena para funcionar con aircrack, Hay va lo que quero por or den de prioridad.  y no importa lo que cueste ;)
Compatible con linux y que funcione en el aircrack
A ser posible que tenga un velocidad de 108 o 300Mbps(tecnologia N, pero segun parece estas tarjetas van con chipset nuevos que no van en linux todavia)
fundamentalmente eso, como la bosslan 500, que dicen que es muy buena, de echo si fuera a 108 o 300Mbps me quedaria con esta, pero si no hubiera ninguna a esta velociad y  si ustedes no me aconsejan otra....
Lo de que valla a esta velocidad es para poder sacar el maximo provecho. bueno a2

La tarjeta USB que tienes es una ralink rt 73 , con esa no tienes mayor problema

Solo tienes que ir a asistencia chipset, forzar ralink rt73 y a empezar a trabajar

Ya comenté que yo me conecto a internet desde ubuntu con una conceptronic c54ru (que segun lo que leí si vale para aircrack), puede que ese chipset sea el de esta tarjeta y no el de la D-link DWA-140...
no se.... pero en el momento  de escribir los comandos desenchufé la conceptronic y enchufé la D-link
De todas formas, lo dixo, si no encuentro una que funcione, utilizaré la conceptronic, aunque está mas sorda que una tapia.
de hexo, hoy hice pruebas para ver cuantos wifi pillaba con la conceptronic, en un apartamento de la playa, y no pillaba muxos.... y con poca intensidad... por eso lo de  comprar una nueva.... con mas potencia
ademas, me e dado cuenta que la D-link no le puedo enxufar una antena externa.... Y por lo que e visto... para poder pillar los wifi bien, Hace falta caxarros bastante potentes con antenas unidireccinales y todo eso...
Por eso propuese lo de la Bosslan 500, por que dicen que es muy buena(y la verdad es  que tienen razon) lo unico que le falta es eso, la tecnologia N
Siento ser tan pesado y reiterante pero para evitar problemas, pues eso, si me pudieran dar nombres de modelos del estilo de la Bosslan yo keo que acabamos antes.
PD: con lo referente a la tarjeta D-link, si resulta que al final ese chipset que me dices es el suyo admelo saber, porque significaria que los chipset rt2870(que parece ser que son uno de los chipset que vienen con la tecnología N) funcionan con el aircrack.

La conceptronic es bastante dorda, hay llevas raón, pero le puedes hacer un MOD, para poder conectarle una antena grande, es bastante simple en esa tarjeta
